![]() With my 3900x, the wrath prism would have been enough ![]() Your PC will thank you later, your system performance and stability will be improved, and you’ll be rewarded by smoother flights… eventually… okay please let’s not go there There are plenty of YouTube videos out there to help you choose. This isn’t some weird brag, I just want to highlight to those people who might be new to PC’s and/or high performance gaming/simming - if you’re getting into this for any amount of time, spend £50-£100 and get a decent CPU cooler, be it liquid or air. My Corsair H100x cooler won’t let my total CPU temp rise above 55°. I have a ryzen 5800x, it sits at just over 4.8ghz on most cores for the entire time I fly, 2-4 hours per session, many session a week (at the moment!). A sustained 70° is a much better maximum temperature than 90°. If you are planning on flying the sim for even a modest amount of time per week, please ensure your CPU has an adequate cooler. There is no reason to want to have your cpu sitting at 90° for any length of time if you can at all help it. You need to keep your CPU cool! 90°c is bad! Your CPU isn’t going to melt or blow up, but you are shortening it’s lifespan and reducing it’s performance. As this sim progresses and we all crank our graphics up, it’ll only be more capable of taking advantage of all the processing power your CPU can give it. ![]() ![]() NINETY DEGREES! People, if this is you, please check your cooling. Just a quick one I’ve seen several posts recently with people saying they are seeing their CPU temps sit at 90°c so they are going to leave the sim for a while, or try and throttle the sim in some way… I’m not even going to touch on overclocking, because I’ll assume if you are tweaking then you know what you’re doing within safe parameters and again, this post isn’t for you. If you know everything about PC cooling, this post isn’t for you. This is for people new to serious flight sim’ing and/or gaming PC’s who might need to look more into cooling options for their CPU. ![]()
